PRESIDENTIAL SPECIAL AIDE STUCK AT FRANKFURT AIRPORT

London, Apr 19 (ANTARA) - The ash of the volcanic eruption in Iceland which had caused the shutting down of all airports in Germany had also caused Presidential Special Aide Dino Pati Jalal to become stranded at Frankfurt airport.

Dino Pati Jalal had to leave for Rome by train and then back to Jakarta by plane, information, social and cultural official of the Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt Didit Parlambang told Antara's London correspondent Monday.

He said the Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt has also provided assistance to Indonesians flying back to Jakarta but had to wait and stay somewhat longer in Germany.

Didit Parlambang said six Indonesians who were about to fly back to Jakarta by Etihad and Emirat were stuck at Frankfurt airport, and asked the Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt for help, as the airline company did not provide accommodation or food.

Some officials of the Indonesian Consulate General picked them up at the airport, and provide them accommodation at the Consulate General's office, he said.

Staff of the Indonesian Consulate General also met 80 Indonesians stranded at Dusseldorf airport. Their travel was supposed to be taken care of by Dwidaya Jakarta, Celindo Surabaya and Our Holiday, Jakarta.

Right now they are given accommodation at Hotel Maritime and Hotel Courtyard Marriot in Dusseldorf.

All the airports in Germany were still closed pending an offcial announcement from the German aviation authorities, Didit Parlambang said.
