RI, GERMANY SIGN ENVIRONMENT COOPERATION AGREEMENT

London, Dec 18 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Germany have agreed to enhance cooperation in the environmental field under a so-called clean development mechanism project scheme.

Indonesian Environment Minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta and his German counterpart Ursula Heinen-Esser signed a memorandum of understanding to that effect at the latter's office this week, spokesman for the Indonesian Embassy in Germany Agus Priono said in a statement on Friday.

Under the agreement, the two countries will exchange information on the development of renewable energy projects, among others, he said.

It was expected the MoU would encourage the establishment of other cooperation between the two nations in addressing climate change and protecting biodiversity, he said.
