RI PROMOTES ITS HANDICRAFT PRODUCTS IN PRAGUE
London, Dec 2 (ANTARA)- The Indonesian Embassy is taking part in the International Christmas Bazaar in Prague, Czech Republic, an official said.
Opened by the First Lady of the Czech republic, Madame Livia Klausova, the event has 48 participating countries and several international organizations.
"It is an annual activity of the wives of foreign ambassadors in Prague and this year's event is the eighth," first secretary for social and cultural affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Prague, Azis Nurwahyudi, said here Tuesday.
Azis also explained that in this year's bazaar, the Indonesian Embassy along with its women's association asked batik entrepreneurs from Solo (a town in Indonesia's Central Java province) and Balinese producers of carved and ethnic accessories to take part in the event. Indonesia in the event also offered clothes, scarfs, sarongs, flip flop, wallets, bags and toys.
According to Azis, the Indonesian pavilion drew the keen attention of visitors who were looking for Christmas and New Year's gifts. Madame Livia also visited the pavilion and was greeted by Indonesian Ambassador Salim Said and his wife Herawaty Said.
On the occasion, the Hungarian First Lady bought batik clothes and received souvenirs of batik stola and wood carvings.
As far as Indonesia was concerned, Azis said the event was a breakthrough in the search of handicraft markets in the Czech Republic.
On the occasion, the Indonesian Embassy also distributed brochures to visitors on Indonesian tourism. ***2***H-AFA/B/HNG/B003).
